Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), represented by the Digital School, has launched a project to support the continuity of education programs in Lebanon, targeting 40,000 beneficiaries in its first phase.
The "Continuity of Education in Lebanon 2024—2025" project aligns with the initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to support the Lebanese people. On October 30, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, directed the implementation of education continuity programs through the Digital School to address the challenges faced by children and the education sector in Lebanon due to current circumstances.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with various partners and stakeholders through two main tracks: digital education solutions and support for education continuity in displacement centers across Lebanon.
Under the digital education solutions track, a free online platform (KeepLearningNow.org) has been developed, providing access to lessons based on Lebanon's official curriculum. Additionally, offline solutions are being facilitated for greater accessibility.
In the displacement centers track, the project has commenced in 25 centers, offering lessons in core subjects to students. Over 5,600 students have been enrolled, and 275 teachers are being trained to support the initiative.
His Excellency Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Secretary—General of MBRGI, emphasized the UAE's ongoing commitment to supporting Lebanon, as directed by the country's leadership. He highlighted the significance of education as a critical factor in community recovery and prosperity, noting the importance of ensuring Lebanese students can continue their education despite current challenges.
The project is also equipping educational spaces with digital devices, stationery, heating systems, and other essentials across sectors including northern and central Beqaa, Mount Lebanon, and northern Lebanon. It currently serves nine locations: Arsal, Al—Qaa, Ras Baalbek, Al—Fakiha, Jdeideh, Bar Elias, Al—Marj, Aaramoun, and Qabb Elias—Dhour Al—Choueir.
The project continues to assess needs and expand its programs to reach more beneficiaries and areas gradually.
Previously, on October 10, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid directed MBRGI to provide urgent food assistance to 250,000 people in Lebanon, distributed in partnership with the UN World Food Programme.
The UAE's "With You, Lebanon" campaign, launched earlier in October, has garnered widespread community engagement, including contributions from leaders, businesses, and citizens. It has facilitated the delivery of essential medical supplies, food packages, and shelter materials to support the Lebanese people during these challenging times.
MBRGI places a high priority on education, recognizing it as the foundation of community development and investing in human resources as a key driver of progress. The organization has implemented numerous programs to support education in underserved communities, including initiatives for eradicating illiteracy, training educators, building modern educational facilities, and advancing vocational education.
Through its mission to promote education and knowledge, MBRGI continues to develop programs aimed at fostering a culture of learning in the Arab world, building a generation equipped with the knowledge and skills to overcome societal challenges.
