The Digital Educator Global Academy, organized through a partnership between the Government Knowledge Exchange Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and The Digital School — one of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives — has successfully empowered nearly 12,000 teachers from 32 countries around the world, including 22 participating in the UAE Government Knowledge Exchange Programs, with advanced technological skills.
The Academy, which specializes in the professional development of teachers, aims to reach diverse communities worldwide by equipping educators with the skills needed to apply technology solutions that provide students with advanced learning experiences, particularly in communities facing challenges in accessing education.
Developed and accredited in collaboration with Arizona State University, the Academy's training programs are delivered virtually in five languages — Arabic, English, French, Spanish, and Kurdish. This initiative has created opportunities for teachers worldwide to access high—quality educational content to enhance their skills, overcoming geographic and situational barriers, especially in underprivileged regions.
His Excellency Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Government Knowledge Exchange, highlighted the importance of initiatives that advance the education sector and equip teachers with future—ready tools and digital learning models. He stressed that such efforts create real impact within communities, enabling them to shape the future by building on their own talents supported by digital and technological knowledge.
Lootah further explained that the partnership between the Government Knowledge Exchange Office and The Digital School serves as a model of purposeful collaboration, expanding access to The Digital School's advanced educational experiences for partner countries in knowledge exchange programs with the UAE Government. This, he noted, directly contributes to achieving the goals of these programs by strengthening public sector development and creating transformative shifts in key community—focused sectors worldwide.
Dr. Waleed Al Ali, Secretary General of The Digital School, emphasized that the partnership with the Government Knowledge Exchange Office reflects the school's mission to provide a global platform for future learning models, ensuring access to underserved communities and enabling students to benefit from advanced learning experiences. These, he noted, provide them with technological tools and future skills that empower them to positively impact their societies.
He added that the Digital Educator Global Academy builds on the track record and successes of The Digital School in creating learning opportunities for students worldwide and supporting communities with access to advanced digital education solutions. This, he said, helps solidify future—oriented education models while contributing to closing digital and technological literacy gaps.
The Academy's digital platform offers two specialized training tracks designed to build teachers' competencies in applying technology and digital education methodologies in their work. The platform has already provided more than 38,000 training hours for teachers across partner countries in the UAE Government Knowledge Exchange Program.
Through the "Mentor" track, participants gain skills in using Learning Management Systems (LMS) for teaching and professional development, including the basics of LMS use with students, interactive digital content creation, and fostering digital learning environments.
The "Digital Educator" track equips teachers with a wider set of skills covering teaching in digital environments, the fundamentals of digital education, classroom management, instruction for both large and small groups, and digital safety practices.
This initiative is part of the UAE Government's efforts to expand cooperation in knowledge and expertise exchange, enhancing the quality of life in societies by empowering government and education professionals with the skills of the future. Since its launch in 2018, the Government Knowledge Exchange Program has formed partnerships and bilateral cooperation agreements with more than 40 countries across all continents, delivering over 34 million training hours through 2,500+ workshops and building the capabilities of more than 3.3 million professionals.
The Digital School, launched in November 2020 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, is the first accredited digital school of its kind. It provides students — particularly in underserved communities, refugee populations, and displaced groups — with smart, flexible digital and blended learning opportunities supported by modern curricula and technology—driven teaching methods.
The school adopts a holistic approach to digital transformation in education, expanding access through digital learning pathways. To date, it has reached over 500,000 students worldwide, trained nearly 12,000 digital educators, and offers content in five languages: Arabic, English, French, Spanish, and Kurdish.
