The initiative is the first Arab digital school of its kind to provide integrated distance education, making use of technology and its smart solutions to enable students of all stages and scientific levels in the world, with flexible digital education, especially refugees and students of fragile, marginalized and lower—income communities.
The Board of Directors includes: Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Chairman of the Council, and membership: Huda Al Hashemi, Head of Government Strategy and Innovation, Dr. Abdullah Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, and Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, CEO of Dubai Cares. Dr. Muhammad Qassem, Assistant Professor at the College of Technological Studies in Kuwait, Dr. Muhammad Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, and Dr. Walid Al Ali, General Coordinator of the Digital School Project.
This came during a special ceremony under the patronage and presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, organized by the Foundation in the Emirates Towers in Dubai, followed by a press conference to announce the details of the school project, in the presence of a large number of representatives of the local, Arab and international media.Al Olama said: The trust of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid is the assignment and honor of the Board of Directors, who will start working from today to achieve the qualitative educational goals of the initiative, which stems from His Highness' vision to employ smart technology and digital solutions to provide high—level education, according to flexible and approved mechanisms for students, wherever they are. especially in the developing and less fortunate societies.
He stressed that the Board of Directors will cooperate with global educational and academic institutions and international organizations, to activate the optimal formulas for digital education, and provide the necessary funds for its programs that contribute to bridging the knowledge gap between education outputs and the needs of future labor markets, and its changing applications, by taking advantage of smart technologies and technological solutions, which support The economy of the future based on knowledge, innovation and digitization.
While Dr. Al Gurg said: Students today stand at an important crossroads because their educational path and the development of their skills are at risk of being interrupted, due to the negative impact of the "Corona" pandemic; We are proud that the UAE is among the first countries in the world to take immediate measures locally and globally, to address the repercussions of the pandemic on education.
He added: The digital school is another step that enhances the position of the UAE as a major player when it comes to solving global issues. We are pleased to be part of this educational initiative.
Dr. Al Falahi said: The UAE, with its global initiatives, plays its leading humanitarian role in support of human development in various parts of the world, building human beings and enabling them to build a decent life and contribute to the process of economic and social development, especially in the less fortunate communities and countries affected by disasters and crises. Pointing out that concerted efforts and academic and technical expertise to harness digital technology and applications to provide education to groups in dire need, contribute to achieving the humanitarian goals of the digital school initiative.
Dr. Walid Al Ali stressed that the rise of digital education, which has accelerated this year due to the pandemic and the precautionary and preventive measures that accompanied it, has strengthened its role as a complement to existing education systems and a successful tool that employs technology and its solutions, to enhance the possibilities of continuous learning, especially for students in remote and developing areas. Pointing to the integration of the digital school initiative with other initiatives, within the axis of enhancing education in the institution, with the aim of expanding the circle of knowledge achievement and consolidating the future skills that the younger generations need, to obtain the opportunities they deserve, especially among the vulnerable and less fortunate segments.
